The Beecroft Cheltenham venturer unit is made up of youth members coming from 4 scout groups. Beecroft Cheltenham, Roselea, Pennant Hills and 2/3 Pennant Hills in Cherrybrook.

The group has around 20 youth members and generally meets on a Monday night at the Beecroft Cheltenham cub/venturer hall on The Crescent, Beecroft.

During the year the group went through a change of adult leadership when Gazza (Graham Nisbet) and Whitey (Andrew Whiteman) stood down as venturer leaders. Dan Bennett and Mark Boulter – both parents of current venturers – responded to the call for new leaders and now supervise the group. The group is currently chaired by Wun Zee, with Nick Choy acting as Treasurer.

The venturers have had a busy year starting with Dragon Skin at Easter. This is the highlight camp / hiking event for Sydney venturers. A good time was had by all who participated. A key group of venturers also undertook a weekend hike down in the Helensburgh area. One venturer, Emma Mees, has completed her Queen Scout activities and is waiting to hear if she has been sucessful.

Normal nights are organised by the venturers on a roster basis, with about 50% of meetings in-hall and 50% out and about. External activities can include wacky activities such as formal macca’s (fast food in black tie/cocktail dress) and tent runs (going into the city and seeing which group can take a photo of a tent in the strangest location).

We are looking forward to another fun year ahead.
